Mega-Celebrity Mel Gibson Arrested for DUI, Allegedly Spews Anti-Semitic Crap, Hurls F-Bomb to Cops

Last Friday, Mel Gibson was arrested after what started out as a routine police stop for speeding and for suspected driving under the influence of alcohol, but then Gibson allegedly went on a drunken rant, spewing a series of anti-semitic remarks at the L.A. Country Sheriff officers.

If your are on the editorial teams at the Star, US Weekly, People or on the production teams of Access Hollywood, Entertainment Tonight or any news outlet in any medium that devotes serious gossip coverage, then today is the kind of day you dream of, a day when a supernova Hollywood name falls from grace in a big, bad, ugly and shit-faced way. Today is that day.

Although the incident happended late last Friday night, today was the first proper day of the media-machine work week. Which means Gison has had time to prepare for the initial fall-out. In the meantime, Gibson and his PR firm-lawyer-agent-starfucking-industrial complex have had the actor/producer/director issue an apology and announce plans to go into rehab.

The media are already speculating about the end of Mel's career, but we're not buying it. As offensive, despicable and scandalous as his alleged actions are, we're predicting that his career will be damaged a little, but in the end he will be forgiven by most and remain the powerful Hollywood player that he is, though the reality is that much of that will hinge on the success or failure of his upcoming film, "Apocalypto."

The real question Mel should be asking right now is "What would Jesus do?"
