MP3 PLAYERS
Need an MP3 player? Check out some of the players we've listed below. Each is available for immediate download.
Freeamp
Platform: Windows & Linux
Notes: A slick, open-source player.
Macast (formerly Macamp)
Platform: Mac OS
Notes: A new-and-improved Macamp. Nice "digital" look.
Audion
Platform: Mac OS
Notes: This player supports playing of CD as well as MP3s, mp3 streaming, and .m3u files. Just slightly better that the Macamp.
Sonique
Platform: Windows
Notes: Probably the best player ot there. Comprehensive options and lots of extras, but it really means working the CPU of your machine until it's blue in the face. A lot of people report crashes on their machines due to this player.
Winamp
Platform: Windows
Notes: Reliable, tried-and-true Windows MP3 software with a lot of options.
SCMPX
Platform: Windows
Notes: A basic player for those who prefer few bells and whistles. It's advantage is that it also does MP3 encoding, decoding, splitting and re-sampling.
Lame
Platform: Multi-platform (open-source)
Notes: Stable player designed more for the computer geek in us, as it uses an old-skool command-line interface that UNIX folks will love. It's open source, so hack, hack, hack away.
Audiocatalyst
Platform: Windows, Mac OS, & Linux.
Notes: More than just an MP3 player. This things rips CDs and aiff/wav files, and can manage real time encoding from the "sound in." Perfect if you can mix from an audio mixer directly to MP3 or from MD to MP3.
