Limited Edition Sunglasses by Pharrell, A Bathing Ape and Marc Jacobs for Louis Vuitton

pharrell_bape_sunglasses.jpg

Is this a cool collabo or what? It was only a matter of time that hip hop maestro Pharrell (Neptunes) and Japanese hip hop style maven Nigo (A Bathing Ape) spawned with luxury leather goods maker Louis Vuitton. This is such a "first contact" moment, though not the first time that these stylistic impulses have been brought together. Actually, it was LV designer Marc Jacobs who worked with Pharrell and Bape. The offspring of this collabo, a line of limited edition Vuitton sunglasses, will be snapped up at steady clip, we think. According to inside sources, the eyewear will sell in the $250-and-up price range. We haven't seen a pair of these sunglasses up close and personal yet. But we imagine you could find them at the LV shop in Soho, New York City. That's where the launch party for the sunglasses line was held recently. Pharrell, Nigo, and Marc Jacobs were there of course, as well as a bunch of other luminaries from the worlds of hip hop and style, such as Mike D. from Beastie Boys and Jay-Z. It's only a matter of time before these sunglasses show up on eBay selling for a huge mark-up from the retail price. Prediction: eventually 90% of all available stock will end up in the hands of hardcore Japanese collectors.
